‘This MAGA movement needs to Continue’: Lindsey Graham Calls On Trump's daughter in-law Lara to take over seat of Republican senator who voted to convict Trump

Just a day after joining 42 other Republican senators in a vote to acquit former President Donald Trump, Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), a Trump ally, has spoken about Trump’s future role in the Republican party, while urging Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to contest in the North Carolina 2022 Senate race, and take over the position of Richard Burr, a Republican senator to voted with Democrats to convict Donald Trump.

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, February 14, Graham said Trump deserves no blame for the riot and that the party would need to find a way to “work with” the former president:

The South Carolina lawmaker said he spoke to Trump on Saturday, hours after the impeachment trial vote, and Trump said he was “ready to move on and rebuild the Republican Party.”

“Donald Trump is the most vibrant member of the Republican Party,” Graham said.

Graham called on Lara Trump, Eric Trump’s wife, to run for Sen. Richard Burr’s seat in North Carolina.

Burr, one of the seven Republicans to vote to convict Trump on Saturday, has said he will retire in 2022, and Lara Trump was born in Wilmington, North Carolina .

“My friend Richard Burr just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the Senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs,” Graham said, before endorsing her potential candidacy and calling her the “future of the Republican Party.”

Graham also warned that any Republican who defied the former president would be “erased” from the party.

“President Trump, you need to build the Republican Party stronger,” Graham said Sunday, adding, “I’m into winning. This maga movement needs to continue'

“The President bears responsibility for these tragic events,” Burr said in a statement after the vote. “The evidence is compelling that President Trump is guilty of inciting an insurrection against a coequal branch of government and that the charge rises to the level of high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

After the vote, the North Carolina GOP rebuked Burr, calling the vote “shocking and disappointing.”

While in an Instagram Live video on Saturday, Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, said Burr had no “balls.”

Along with Burr, six other Republicans voted to convict Trump on Saturday, including Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.
